thomas day and other days

here is the american dog sprawlin (so american...).

ok sometime last week or something.. Sunday maybe? i went with nele's sister and her frat bro bf to Thomas day which umm we went to Nuernberg (along those lines) and basically all the the german fraternities within a 100 km radius joined us in their costumes and then we walked in a big line in a circle twice, and the frats carried their special flags and wore their special hats and colored sashes. anddd then we had lunch and i had duck for the first time ever. also glue vine AKA Gluehwein. ask mariann about it... (o.k. its hot spiced wine)

then that was over. and then i went to the Stehmanns and it was really super nice and i got to relax alot. and i went shopping with barbara and i spent my months paycheck in a day. good thinking. but now i am alot warmer cause i have warm socks and tights etc etc. but yeah bye money. i also went with them to get a christmas tree. and just had a really good time. i recommend a stop at their house anytime you are in the area, very warm hosts. (you could also probably talk to mariann about that) and then we watched cute christmas romantic comedy movies. today we went and saw i think tin heart its called? in the movie theatre, its the only one they had in english. but it was good and HA! look what they have in their movie theatres... love seats:

also across the street, the PROUDLY AMERICAN burgerking (yes, we went.)

and then on thursday i attended the foyazanginboola (Feuerzangenbowle) AKA flaming sugar ball rum wine mess. here is a picture of it.

WITH FLASH (not impressive. but gives you a better idea of what is happening)

WITHOUT FLASH (scary)

and here is me getting involved... can you tell? this is even scarier, especially with it blurry. eeee.

then i got a tour of the fraternity house. this is a picture of their sink dedicated to throwing up. notice the handle bars. yikes.

and here is a picture of their fencing masks. the third one from the right has a FRAT-HAT attached to it. thats what their hats look like.

Wow - I've never even heard of a sink quite like that. I can't decide if I'm impressed or just grossed out. I can't help but wonder if the drain ever gets plugged up though... Glad to hear you got some warm socks!

Happy Christmas, a few days early :)

Hey Marg.

I like that you're kicking it with frat dudes. I also like how frat dudes fence over there. That sounds like fun. I also really like the idea of their puking sink. If you've ever been to a frat house over here you would know that puking is an inevitable part of the fraternal way of life and that such a sink would be quite a convenience. Peace!
